This article describes how to use the virus scanner in cPanel to scan your account files for viruses, trojan horses, and other types of malware. You can scan e-mail files, files in public web and FTP directories, or your entire account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following steps will guide you to scan your web space and help you to keep it clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Access Cpanel<\/p>\n\n\n\n

http:\/\/yourdomain.com\/cpanel<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should enter the cPanel username and password to get into the cpanel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Navigate to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

advanced >> virus scanner<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Selecting a virus scanner will give you a new interface showing the possible options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Select any of the options as per your requirement, here we select “Scan Entire Home Directory” – Entire contents of the web space will be scanned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Click scan now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. In case of no infected files, you will get a message like “Virus scan complete. no virus found”. If the scan finds any threats, any of the following methods should be performed to clean up the web files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disinfect: Harmful content will be removed from the file.\n\nQuarantine: Virus scanner will move the infected files to the following location.           \n\n\/home\/USERNAME\/quarantine_clamavconnector\/\n\nDestroy: Virus scanner will delete the infected files permanently.\n\nIgnore: Virus scanner will keep the infected files unchanged ( not recommended).<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
7. Click Process Cleanup.
